The Google On Hub

As one of Google’s earliest hardware launches the On Hub and Wifi devices successfully propelled them into the consumer hardware market. The goal of OnHub was to create a home router that wouldn’t be stuffed away in a closet thus reducing WiFi performance. The challenge with this was two-fold. Creating an aesthetic that would fit comfortably in any home environment while also dissipating the heat generated by the equipment. By developing an outer user-customizable removable shroud the final design achieves both.

In the spirit of the customizable concept, Google had artists create their own shrouds to promote individual expression and new ways of imagining networking equipment.
