Packaging experience

The Atoms packaging experience challenges

After initially launching with conventional shipping methods it was clear that Atoms needed a smart solution to create a special experience for the customer that would also keep logistical and shipping costs low. The task was to create a packaging design that would improve margins, elevate the user experience and reduce packaging waste.

Welcome to Atoms

It starts with a brand new cleanly designed inconspicuous shipping box with an integrated tear-away strip. No tape, no knives, no reaching deep into a box of foam peanuts.

Quickly access any accessories and easily lift out all 3 shoe boxes bound together with a cardstock band.

Try on and keep what fits

Atoms come in 1/4 sizing options. Each box is clearly labeled in the Atoms sizing system and held shut with strong magnets. By presenting each pair together elegantly, upright, and ready to wear the experience of trying on shoes and exploring a precise fit is simple quick and fun.

Return the rest

The original shipping box is designed to telescope down and reseal to the new size of only 2 shoe boxes.

Utilizing the same box for both shipping and returning, Atoms saves both on shipping cost and materials. The customer also doesn’t have to breakdown or throw away an excess box streamlining and reducing the burden of returns.

Seamless experience complex details

The Atoms packaging creates a simple seamless experience that compliments the design and functionality of the ideal everyday shoe.
